Instructions for searching in Vesta

Truncation
Search with the beginning of a word followed by an asterisk *. Entrepren* finds entrepreneur, entrepreneurial etc.

Freetext
The search will be carried out in all fields at the same time (author, title, subject term, publisher).

Subject terms
Subject terms describe the contents of a book. They are chosen from the thesaurus Allärs and are only in Swedish.

Advanced search
Combine several keywords by typing them one after the other or by putting, in capital letters, AND, OR, NOT between the keywords.

Library
The search can be limited to the collections of a certain library, i.e. Nunnegatan, Sjöfart or Kulturproducenterna.

Class
The library collections are sorted into classes according to the Finnish Public Library Classification System. Ask the librarians for a complete list of the classes used at Nunnegatan!.

Year of publication
Limit the search results to the year an item has been published.

Title type
Limit the search results to various types of material. If you choose Video and leave the other fields blank, you will get a list of all the DVDs and video cassettes of the library.

Item availability
The loan period and availability of an item is stated under Loanable.:

Library - loan period 21 days

Course library - books marked with Snabblån, loan period 7 days

Staff - books marked with Lärarex., loan period 21 days

Reference library - books marked with Referens, not allowed to be borrowed.

Journals
The printed journals of Nunnegatan and Maritime Studies are registered in Vesta on their titles in class 05.1. Number shows from which year the libraries have subscribed to the journal. Some of the journals are also available on the web or in the Nelli Portal, in which case there is a link in Vesta.
